Unaccompanied Minor Refugees
The main objective of this programme is to give children and UMRs emigrated into Switzerland an environment where they can grow up safely. This can be done either by returning to their country of origin (if that is possible) or finding a sustainable solution in Switzerland.
Through its network of partners in over 140 countries ISS aims to find concrete solutions, after a careful evaluation, in the UMR's country of origin. In the case that ISS determines that circumstances may hinder the return of the UMR to their country of origin ISS develops alternatives in Switzerland or in another country.
Benefitting from the programme are: non-Swiss children/young people stranded in Switzerland without parental protection.
Partners: the ISS network - Federal Office for Migration - Separated Children in Europe Programme (SCEP)
